Huntsville Hospital offers a local resource for the diagnosis and treat ment of any voice or speech disorder If you suffer from chronic laryngi tis hoarseness or unexplained changes in vocal quality call The Voice Center at 517 6860 for more information Be safe not sorry HUNTSVILLE HOSPITAL Voice Cwto JV teams lay foundation for future Scottsboro Jackson 9th grade play tonight They may not be as big They may not be as fast But nothing lacking about the excitement of junior high football One of the most interesting match ups of the season and a preview of varsity battles down the road will be played at RD Hicks Stadium tonight at 6:30 pm when the Scottsboro 9th grade team takes on the freshman squad of North Jackson High School (The good thing about this one is no matter who wins it the loser will have a chance to even the score on Oct 5 when the two teams meet again at Trammell Stadium) Both North Jackson coach Vic Griggs and Scottsboro coaches Mike Benson Jo Reed Brumley and Blaine Ellzey want to win the game but they also recognize the real goal of their programs is to prepare their players to move up to the varsity level job is to get them ready to move said Benson the 9th grade we turn up the intensity in practice We demand more and dis cipline a little more better to weed out the ones that going to fit into the team concept in the 9th grade than in the 10th Benson knows very well what to expect at the varsity level He had been a varsity coach for several years before moving over to the 9th gradc program this season The adjustment from varsity to 9th grade been hard he said just have to be a lol more patient I have to catch myself may be expecting too much But the play ers have responded very well to me and enjoying Benson said The Scottsboro team that takes the field tonight will have 25 players the same number that started practice We have some good skill people but just average said Benson Most of the practice time so far has been spent learning fundamentals Only in the past few weeks have they started working on the offense and defense go into the North Jackson game without a lot of offen sive plays or defensive said Benson Looking for Like the 9th grade the 8th grade team lost any players since practice began either But unlike the 9th grade they still have a week to get ready for their first game They and the 9th grade will face Decatur in the River City next week be a good game They always have good speed and good said Steve Taber who coaches the 8th grade along with Harvey Page and Darrell Bradford got a real good group of kids that show a lot of said Draw the weather!
